Get to know Larisa Ivanova – an Ukrainian woman who has joined the Embrace Project in Slovenia.!

How do you see the EMBRACE project?

I perceive the EMBRACE project as a bridge between local community and migrants, recently arrived in Slovenia from non-EU countries. It aims to inspire, connect and welcome during the integration process.

What do you think, how can training help migrants to integrate faster and better?

During the training pathways migrants can learn about how to improve the opportunities and access the EU labour market, they can build new connections and explore partnership ideas for better development. They can develop their social and emotional competences in collaboration with other participants and partners, learn how to liaise and work in collaboration and cooperation with other agencies and groups to address their needs, also share experience and good practice in relation to addressing the needs through transfer of learning.

How do you expect the project to develop in the future?

Newcomers can definitely be constructors of the project in the future and by attending trainings can help facilitate this. It can also be of immense assistance for migrants to participate in civic orientation. Project could build more capacity for migrants to participate in community activities and integrate into community life, cutting down isolation, developing local engagements and engaging themselves as participants in decision making policies in Slovenia.
